Introduction

Glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)-anchored protein. Glypiated proteins are initially directed towards the secretory pathway by means of an NH2-terminal sequence, where the acquire the GPI moiety (3). The GPI moiety is preassembled on the cytoplasmic face of the ER & then transferred into the lumen where it is attached to the COOH-terminal residue of the protein.
