Function
- catalyzes conversion of purine 5-prime mononucleotides to nucleosides at neutral pH
- hydrolyzes extracellular nucleotides into membrane permeable nucleosides
Compartment
cell membrane, lipid-anchor, GPI-anchor
Expression
Pathology
- decreased activity in B cell CLL
- high levels poor prognostic factor in leukemias/lymphomas
Notes
- marker of lymphocytic differentiation
- other forms of 5'nucleotidases exist in cytoplasm & lysosomes & can be distinguished by substrate affinities
More general terms
- 5'nucleotidase (5'-ribonucleotide phosphohydrolase)
- glypiated protein
- oligomerizing protein
- CD antigen
