One of the squamous cells forming the lining of blood vessels & lymph vessels & the inner layer of the endocardium.

Function

• initiating the sequence of leukocyte migration in response to chemotactic factors
• maintenance of tissue homeostasis
• facilitation of inflammatory responses with disruption of the endothelium

Laboratory

• endothelial cell Ab in serum/plasma
