• mediator of trafficking of its binding partners in neurons
• interacts with EPHA7, EPHB2, KIF5A, KIF5B, KIF5C, GRIA2, GRIA3, GRASP1, PPFIA1, PPFIA4, FRAS1, PTPRF, EFNB1, EFNB3, liprin-alpha(s)
• may form homomultimers or heteromultimers with GRIP2
• forms ternary complex with GRIA2 and CSPG4
• binds to the C-terminus of ephrin B1 through a PDZ domain
• GRIP1 also binds to the SVKI motif in the C-terminal region of the GluR1 & GluR2 subunits of the AMPA receptor
