Indications
- symptomatic relief from allergies
- relief from cold symptoms & cold & flu symptoms
- aches & pain, headache, sinusitis, nasal congestion, rhinorrhea, cough, sneezing
- insomnia[2]
Contraindications
- glaucoma
- asthma
- pregnancy
- concurrent MAO inhibitor therapy
Caution:
- coronary artery disease
- peripheral vascular disease
- hypertension
- hyperthyroidism
- urinary bladder neck obstruction
Dosage
- adults & children > 12 years: 1 tab PO every 12 hours
- children 6-12 years: 1/2 tab PO every 12 hours
- tablets should not be crushed or chewed
chlorpheniramine maleate 8 mg
phenylephrine HCl 20 mg
methscopolamine nitrate 2.5 mg
Adverse effects
- not common (1-10%)
- uncommon (< 1%)
- cardiovascular
- central nervous system: depression, insomnia
- dermatologic: photosensitivity, rash, angioedema
- endocrine & metabolic: lassitude, anorexia
- gastrointestinal
- genitourinary: urinary frequency, dysuria
- hepatitis
- neuromuscular: myalgia, paresthesia
- ocular: diplopia, blurred vision
- respiratory: bronchospasm, epistaxis
- hypersensitivity reaction: rash, urticaria, leukopenia, agranulocytosis, thrombocytopenia
