Clinical manifestations
- involuntary, sudden, audible expulsion of air through the mouth & nose
Complications
- can eject droplets of fluid containng potentially infectious organisms
- largest droplets rapidly settle within 1-2 meters
- smaller & evaporating droplets remain suspended for seconds to a few minutes & travel 6-8 meters[2]
