• component of the B-WICH complex, at least composed of SMARCA5/SNF2H, BAZ1B/WSTF, SF3B1, DEK, MYO1C, ERCC6, MYBBP1A & DDX21
• binds DNA

Pathology

• chromosomal translocation t(6;9)(p23;q34) involving DEK with NUP214/CAN is found in a subset of acute myeloid leukemia (AML); translocation results in formation of a DEK-CAN fusion gene
• binds to the 'pets' site in the HIV-2 genome which is involved in the infectivity of HIV-2
