Introduction

Guidelines:

  • medications in liquid form are generally preferable
  • sublingual, rectal, transdermal & IV are alternative routes
  • some (not all) IV medications can be given orally or through a feeding tube
  • some capsules may be opened & intact pellets can be administered through large-bore feeding tubes (see below)[1]
