Introduction

In reference to pharmaceutical agent coated with a material that permits transit through the stomach to the small intestine before the medication is released.

The intent is to diminish irritation to the stomach or gastric mucosa

no evidence sugests that enteric-coated or buffered aspirin reduces risk of serious GI bleeding[1]
