Function
- transcriptional activator
- binds to DNA sequencescontaining the consensus 5'-WGGA-3'
- transactivates promoters of hematopoietic growth factor genes CSF2, IL3, IL8, & of bovine lysozyme gene
- acts synergistically with RUNX1 to transactivate IL3 promoter
- transactivates PRF1 promoter in natural killer cells
- role in development & function of NK & NK T-cells & in innate immunity
- interacts via an N-terminal region with RUNX1 Runt domain
- interacts via its C-terminus with PML; interaction enhances ELF4 transactivation of bovine lysozyme gene
Structure
- belongs to the ETS family
- contains 1 ETS DNA-binding domain
Compartment
- nucleus
- accumulation into PML nuclear bodies is mediated by PML
Expression
- expressed in the placenta > heart, lung, spleen, thymus, peripheral blood lymphocytes, ovary, colon > Jurkat T-cells & other T-cell lines
- no expression in brain
Pathology
- expressed in a variety of myeloid leukemia cell lines
- induced by ponisterone A in erythroleukemia cells
