• mediates transient adhesion of dendritic cells with T cells by binding to ICAM3 on T cells
• may mediate transendothelial migration of dendritic cells from blood to tissues by binding endothelial ICAM2
• binds HIV1 gp120
• high affinity receptor for ICAM2
