Introduction
Charascteristics:
- T4 (CD3, CD4)+ lymphocyte.
- development of immature T-cell precursors (thymocytes) to CD4 helper T-cells correlates with T-cell receptor specificity for major histocompatibility complex class 2 molecules.
- ZNF67 expression is necessary & sufficient for commitment of CD4+ cell lineage
Normally 60% of circulating lymphocytes.
Normal range: 1000-2300/uL in peripheral blood.
Pool size: 2 x 10E11
1/2 life 156 days
Cytokines produced by both Th1 & Th2 T-helper cells
