anti-inflammatory properties
inhibits synthesis of cytokines (IFN gamma & IL-2) by T-cells
inhibits Th1 cell proliferation
inhibits macrophage production of:
- IL-1 beta
- IL-6
- IL-8
- IL-12
- TNF-alpha
inhibits Th2 production of:
- IL-4
- IL-5
may play a role in antigen-specific tolerance
- inhibits eosinophil survival
- inhibits IL-4 induced IgE synthesis
