Function
- couples tyrosine kinase signals with activation of Rho/Rac GTPases
- cell differentiation &/or proliferation
- phosphorylated on Tyr
- interactions: APS, DOCK2, GRB2, GRB3, DOCK2, SLA, ZNF655m SIAH2, BLNK, PLCG1, GRB2, NCK1, CBLB
- interacts with SIAH2; without leading to its degradation
- associates with BLNK, PLCG1, GRB2 & NCK1 (B-cell antigen receptor-dependent)
- interaction with CBLB inhibits Tyr phosphorylation & down-regulates activity.
- interacts with SHB & MIST (putative)
Structure
- contains 1 CH (calponin-homology) domain
- contains 1 DH (DBL-homology) domain DH domain is involved in interaction with CCPG1
- contains 1 PH domain
- contains 1 phorbol-ester/DAG-type Zn+2 finger
- contains 1 SH2 domain
- contains 2 SH3 domains
Expression
- widely expressed in hematopoietic cells but not in other cell types
Notes
'Vav' stands for the sixth letter of the Hebrew alphabet
