Function
- binds to the receptor tyrosine kinases EPHA2, EPHA4, EPHA5, EPHA6 & EPHA7
- also binds with low affinity to EPHA1
- EFNA1 stimulation of ephA2 receptor inhibits the ras-MAPK pathway in some cells & attenuates cell growth induced by PDGF, EGF & VEGF[2]
Structure
belongs to the ephrin family
Compartment
cell membrane; lipid-anchor, GPI-anchor
Alternative splicing
named isoforms=2
Expression
- induced by TNF-alpha & interleukin-1 beta, lipopolysaccharides, & VEGF[2] in certain cells
