FK506-binding protein 5 (51 kD FK506-binding protein, 54 kD progesterone receptor-associated immunophilin, FKBP54, FF1 antigen, HSP90-binding immunophilin, androgen-regulated protein 6, FKBP5)

Function
- interacts with functionally mature hetero-oligomeric progesterone receptor complexes along with HSP90 & TEBP
- part of a heteromultimeric cytoplasmic complex with HSP90, HSP70 & steroid receptors
- dissociates from the complex when NR3C1 binds glucocorticoid
- inhibited by FK506 but not cyclosporin
- phosphorylated upon DNA damage, probably by ATM or ATR
peptidylproline (omega=180) <--> peptidylproline (omega=0)
Structure
- contains 2 PPIase FKBP-type domains
- contains 3 TPR repeats
Compartment
Expression
Pathology
- elevated expression of FKBP5 protein promotes inflammation[2]
- aging, stress, & depression increase expression of FKBP5[2]
- increased expression of FKBP5 increases expression of NF-kappa B[2]
