Function
- dual-specificity kinase
- has both Ser/Thr kinase & tyrosine kinase activities
- enhances transcriptional activity of TCF1/HNF1A & FOXO1
- inhibits epithelial cell migration
- autophosphorylated on Tyr
- phosphorylated by MAP kinase
- Tyr phosphorylation may be required for dimerization
- interacts with DCOHM, MAP2K3/MKK3, RANBP9 & TCF1/HNF1A
- part of a complex consisting of RANBP9, RAN, DYRK1B & COPS5
- interacts with DCAF7
Inhibition:
- homodimer
- inhibited by RANBP9
Structure
- belongs to the protein kinase superfamily, CMGC Ser/Thr protein kinase family, MNB/DYRK subfamily
- contains 1 protein kinase domain
Compartment
Alternative splicing
named isoforms=3
Expression
- highest expression in skeletal muscle, testis, heart & brain
- low expression in colon, lung
- expressed in a variety of tumor cell lines
Pathology
- mediates colorectal carcinoma cell survival in mitogen-poor environments
