Conditions listed in AIDS surveillance case definition:
- malignancies
- Kaposi's sarcoma, especially < 60 years of age
- CNS lymphoma, especially < 60 years of age
- other non-Hodgkin's lymphoma
- invasive cervical cancer
- Infection
- Pneumocystis pneumonia
- Pneumocystis carinii pneumonia (PCP)
- Pneumocystis jirovecci pneumonia
- cytomegalovirus (except liver, spleen, lymph nodes)
- CMV retinitis (with loss of vision)
- Mycobacterial infection
- Mycobacterium avium complex (MAC)
- disseminated
- involvement of organ(s) other than
- lung
- hilar or cervical lymph nodes
- skin
- Mycobacterium kansasii (same as MAC)
- Mycobacterium tuberculosis (extrapulmonary > pulmonary)
- other extrapulmonary Mycobacteria
- Mycobacterium avium complex (MAC)
- candidiasis
- coccidioidomycosis, disseminated (extrapulmonary)*
- cryptococcus (extrapulmonary)
- cryptosporidiosis, chronic intestinal (> 1 month duration)
- Herpes simplex
- chronic ulcers > 1 month's duration
- bronchitis, pneumonia or esophagitis of any duration
- histoplasmosis, disseminated (extrapulmonary)*
- isosporiasis, chronic intestinal (> 1 month duration)
- progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy (PML)
- Salmonella septicemia, recurrent
- Toxoplasmosis of the brain
- pneumonia, recurrent
- Pneumocystis pneumonia
- other (may be infectious)
- encephalopathy (HIV-related)
- wasting syndrome
*sites other than cervical or hilar lymph nodes
Other conditions not included above:
- bacillary angiomatosis
- candidiasis
- oropharyngeal
- vulvovaginal (perisitent, frequent or poorly responsive to therapy)
- cervical dysplasia -> carcinoma in situ
- constitutional symptoms lasting > 1 month
- hairy leukoplakia, oral
- shingles (Herpes zoster) involving 2 distinct episodes or more than 1 dermatome
- idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP)
- Listeriosis
- pelvic inflammatory disease, especially complicated by tuboovarian abscess
- peripheral neuropathy
