- CN6: lateral rectus

- muscles of facial expression
- stapedius
- stylohyoid
- posterior belly of the digastric
- CN8: sensory only
- CN9:
- CN10:
- contrictor muscles of pharynx
- intrinsic muscles of larynx
- muscles of palate (except tensor veli palatini CN5-3)
- striated muscle in upper 2/3 of esophagus
- CN11:
- striated muscle of soft palate, pharynx & larynx through fibers that join CN10
- sternocleidomastoid
- trapezius
- CN12: muscles of tongue except palatoglossus
- genioglossus
- hyoglossus
- chondroglossus
- styloglossus
- vertical
- transverse
- superior longitudinal
- inferior longitudinal
