Introduction

Facial muscle of the mouth.

Origin

• nasolabial band from the septum of the nose
• superior incisive bundle from the incisor fossa of the maxilla
• inferior incisive bundle from the lower jaw on each side of the symphysis

Insertion

• fibers surround to mouth between the skin & mucous membrane of the cheeks & lips & are blended in with other muscles

Action

closes lips

Innervation

• facial nerve (CN VII)
