Introduction
Tradename: Gantrisin.
Indications
- bacterial infections due to susceptible organisms
- treatment of urinary tract infections
- trachoma
- nocardiosis
- treatment of acute pelvic inflammatory disease in prepubertal children
- chancroid[3]
- lymphogranuloma venereum
- rheumatic fever[3]
- malaria[3]
- toxoplasmosis[3]
Dosage
- adults: 500-1000 mg PO QID
- children:
- pelvic inflammatory disease:
- 100 mg/kg/day divided every 6 hours
- used in combination with ceftriaxone
Tabs: 500 mg.
Syrup: 500 mg/5 mL.

- crystalluria, hematuria, thyroid dysfunction, interstitial nephritis, serum sickness-like reaction, jaundice, acute nephropathy
