Function
- nucleotide excision repair (NER) of DNA
- RNA transcription by RNA polymerase 2 (when complexed to CAK)
- binds to TFIIF/RNA polymerase II/TFIID/TFIIA/TFIIB & is required for transcription
- TFIIH contains:
- CDK7 as catalytic subunit of kinase activity at C-terminal domain [[[A146993|RNA polymerase-2 CTD consensus repeat]]] of RNA pol II L' subunit
- helicase activity for RNA polymerase II-mediated transcription
- two of its subunits comprise protein products of genes that correct DNA repair deficits in Xeroderma Pigmentosum
- TFIIH may function as an excision repair complex independent of its involvement in transcription.
