Function
- RNA polymerase 2 elongation factor
- inhibits premature termination of RNA polymerase 2 activity
- facilitates binding of RNA polymerase 2 to DAB commlex (TFIID/TFIIA/TFIIB)
- required for transcription.
Structure
- heterodimer TFIIF-alpha & TFIIF-beta subunits[3][5][6]
- RNA Polymerase 2 recruitment activity resides in TFIIF-beta
More general terms
- general transcription factor (basal transcription factor, transcription initiation factor)
- transcription elongation factor
- multisubunit protein
