T cell markers

Introduction

Include:

• CD1, CD2 (pan T cell), CD3, CD4, CD5,
• CD7 (pan-T cell antigen present on majority of T cells)
• CD8

In early stage I of T cell differentiation, cortical thymocytes express nuclear TdT, CD2, CD5, CD7, CD38 and CD71.

In stage II thymocytes acquire CD1, CD4, CD8 and lose CD71.

In stage III, medullary thymocytes express CD3, either CD4 or CD8 & lose CD1.

Post thymic <A19396>T cells</A19396> express CD2, CD3, CD5, CD7, either CD4 or CD8, & lose CD38.
