Introduction
Inadequate penetration into CSF.
Indications
- bacterial infections due to susceptiblw gram-positive organisms
- bacterial infections due to susceptible gram-negative organisms
- urinary tract infections caused by E coli
- acute otitis media[1]
- upper respiratory tract infections
- lower respiratory tract infections
- intra-abdominal infections
- skin or soft tissue infections
- infectious arthritis, osteomyelitis
- prophylaxis for perioperative infection
- administer 2 hours preoperatively
- prophylaxis for bacterial endocarditis
- treatment of endocarditis
- empiric treatment for fever of unknown origin[1]
