Function
- mediates Rho signaling to activate NF-kappa-B
- organization of septin structures
- interacts via its C-terminal region with TAX1BP3 PDZ domain
- interacts with SEPT9
- binds to GTP-bound RHOA, RHOB & RHOC & inhibits their GTPase activity
Alternative splicing
named isoforms=3
Expression
- expressed in prostate > kidney, heart, brain, spleen, testis, placenta, small intestine, pancreas, skeletal muscle, peripheral blood leukocytes > ovary, colon, thymus
- weakly expressed in all normal cell lines
Pathology
- overexpressed in various cancer cell lines
- may confer increased resistance to apoptosis to cells in gastric cancer
