Function
- role as transcription repressor or as transcription activator, depending on cell context
- represses transcriptional activation mediated by CTNNB1 in Wnt pathway
- recruits corepressors CTBP1 & HDAC3
- role in neuron differentiation
- interacts with CTBP1 & HDAC3
- interacts with CTNNB1, CTNND1
- C-terminus cleavage is induced by interaction with CTNND1 & enhanced by Src tyrosine kinase
Structure
- belongs to the GLI C2H2-type zinc-finger protein family.
- contains 5 C2H2-type zinc fingers
- C2H2-type zinc finger 1 has a major repressor function & is required for CTNNB1 binding
