- generally inhibitory for T-helper cells
- generally inhibitory for cytotoxic T-cells
- inhibits cytotoxicity of mononuclear phagocytes & NK cells
- inhibits allergic responses
- inhibits IgE synthesis
- inhibtis activity of IL-4
- inhibits mast cell proliferation
- homotrimer binds to TNFRSF1A/TNFR1, TNFRSF1B/TNFBR & TNFRSF14/HVEM
- heterotrimer with LTB binds to TNFRSF3/LTBR
- cytotoxic for a wide range of tumor cells in vitro & in vivo
- heterotrimer of either two LTB & one LTA subunits or (less prevalent) two LTA & one LTB subunits
