Function
- component of the BLOC-1 complex
- associates with the SNARE complex
- may modulate a step between vesicle priming, fusion & Ca+2-dependent neurotransmitter release
- potentiates interaction of synaptotagmins with SNAREs & plasma-membrane-associated protein SNAP25
- phosphorylated:
- phosphorylation state influences exocytotic protein interactions & may regulate synaptic vesicle exocytosis
- phosphorylation increases its interaction with SNAP25
- SNARE-mediated membrane fusion in non-neuronal cells (putative)
- interacts with SNAP23, SNAP25, STX4A but NOt with STX1A, VAMP2, SYT1
- may anchor to vesicular membrane through an N-terminus
Compartment
- cytoplasm, peripheral membrane, cytoplasmic vesicle
