Function
- induces apoptosis in cooperation with SIAH1A
- mediator between TP53/p53 & BAX in a neuronal death pathway activated by DNA damage
- induced by p53 & cooperates with SIAH1A in p53 mediated apoptosis
- acts synergistically with TRAF2 & inhibits TNF induced apoptosis through activation of NF-kappa-B
- tumor suppressing activity in glioma cells
- interacts with SIAH1A & SIAH2
- interacts with TRAF2
Structure
- homodimer
- belongs to the krueppel C2H2-type zinc-finger protein family
- contains 12 C2H2-type zinc fingers
- contains 1 SCAN box domain
Compartment
Alternative splicing
named isoforms=3
Expression
- expressed in brain, glial cells, astrocytes, embryo, placenta, testis, ovary, utreus
- in placenta, found in layer of villous cytotrophoblast cells
- in ovary, found in cells of ovarian stroma, including thecal layers around follicles
Pathology
- expression is highly repressed in glioma cell lines
