Function
- Rab protein regulator required for vesicle formation from Golgi complex
- may control vesicle docking & fusion by mediating the action of Rab GTPases to SNARE complexes
- inhibits removal of Rab GTPases from membrane by GDI
- interacts with VAMP2 (synaptobrevin-2), GDI1, & PCLO
- interacts specifically with prenylated Rab proteins, strongly with RAB4B, RAB5A and RAB5C, & weakly with RAB4A, RAB6, RAB7, RAB17 & RAB22
- contrast to the mouse ortholog, does not interact with Ras
