Function
- plasma membrane-early endosome transport
- early endosome fusion & mobility
- regulated by guanine nucleotide exchange factors (GEFs) which promote exchange of bound GDP for free GTP
- binds EEA1
- interacts with RIN1 & GAPVD1, which regulate its pathway, probably by acting as a GEF
- interacts with ALS2CL, UNC84B, ZFYVE20 & RUFY1
- interacts with SGSM1 & SGSM3
Structure
belongs to the small GTPase superfamily, Rab family
Compartment
- cell membrane; lipid-anchor; cytoplasmic side (putative)
- early endosome membrane; lipid-anchor
- melanosome; enriched in stage I melanosomes
