Function
- ligand-binding subunit for interleukin-11 receptor
- on ligand binding, forms a multimer complex with IL6ST/gp130
- receptor systems for IL6, LIF, OSM, CNTF, IL11 & CT1 utilize IL6ST/gp130 for initiating signal transduction
- the IL11/IL11RA/IL6ST complex may be involved in the control of proliferation &/or differentiation of skeletogenic progenitor or other mesenchymal cells
Structure
- belongs to the type I cytokine receptor family, type 3 subfamily
- contains 2 fibronectin F3 modules
- contains 1 Ig-like C2-type domain (immunoglobulin-like)
Compartment
- membrane
- may be soluble form
Alternative splicing
named isoforms=2
Expression
- expressed cell lines, including
- myelogenous leukemia
- megakaryocytic leukemia cell line Mo7E
- erythroleukemia cell line TF1
- osteosarcoma cell lines, MG-63, Saos-2.
- also expressed in normal & malignant prostate epithelial cell lines
Pathology
- increased levels of IL11R are found in prostate carcinoma
