Indications
- treatment of bacterial infections including: pneumonia, bronchitis, ear infections, sinusitis, pharyngitis, tonsillitis, & skin infections
- empiric treatment of fever of unknown origin[2]
Dosage
Capsules: 300 mg
Solution: 25 mg/mL
Dosage adjustment in renal failure
Antimicrobial activity
- Streptococcus
- Haemophilus influenzae
- Haemophilus parainfluenzae
- Moraxella catarrhalis
- Staphylococcus aureus[2]
Adverse effects
- dyspepsia
- vomiting
- loss of appetite
- diarrhea
- headache
- dizziness
- fatigue
- rash
- hives
- swelling of the face, eyes, lips, tongue, arms, or legs
- difficulty breathing or swallowing
- vaginal infection
