Decarboxylation product of tyrosine.
Tyramine-containing foods
- red wine, beer
- dairy products cheese (except cottage, ricotta & cream cheese) sour cream yogurt
- smoked or pickled fish
- beef or chicken liver
- dried sausage
- fava or broad bean pods
- yeast vitamin supplements
- yeast spreads
- some fruits bananas red plums figs raisins avocados
- soy beans tofu soy sauce soy bean condiments miso soup
Adverse effects
- some association with migraine & cluster headaches
Drug interactions
- interacts with monoamine oxidase inhibitors
