Introduction
Tradename: Declomycin.
Indications
- treatment of syndrome of inappropriate antidiuretic hormone (SIADH)
- bacterial infections due to susceptible organisms
- plague, tularemia, anthrax, brucellosis, actinomycosis, psittacosis, trachoma, typhus, rickettsialpox, borreliosis,
- skin or soft tissue infection
- acute otitis media
- oral infection
- upper respiratory tract infection
- lower respiratory tract infection
- intra-abdominal infection
- urogenital infection
- proctitis
- eye disease
Contraindications
- do NOT administer to children < 9 years of age
- do NOT use in patients with hepatic cirrhosis
Caution: avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight
Dosage
Tabs: 150 & 300 mg.
Antimicrobial activity
- Staphylococcus aureus
- Chlamydia
- Coxiella burnetii
- Neisseria gonorrhoeae
- Klebsiella
- Haemophilus influenzae
- Mycoplasma pneumoniae STAPHYLOCOCCUS_AUREUS
Adverse effects
- not common (1-10%)
- uncommon (< 1%)
Drug interactions

- drug interaction(s) anticonvulsants with anti-bacterial agents
- drug interaction(s) of antibiotics with warfarin
