Indications
- short term treatment of inflammatory dermatoses
- psoriasis
- lichen sclerosus
Dosage
(topical)
- 0.05% cream/ointment/spray/scalp application QD/BID
- up to 2 weeks of therapy
- 4 weeks then gradually taper over 2-3 months for lichen sclerosus
- maximum: 50 g/week
- avoid application of occlusive dressing to the site(s) of clobetasol administration
Solution: (0.05%) for scalp 25 & 50 mL. Cream (0.05%) 15 & 30 g.
Gel: (0.05%) (propionate): 15, 30 & 45 g.
Spray: (0.05%) (Clobex, Galderma) 2 oz
Adverse effects
- not common (1-10%)
- skin irritation, dryness, erythema, pruritus, papular rashes
- uncommon (< 1%)
- other
- suppression of hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis
