Etiology

• Cushing's disease
• obesity (striae distensae)
• potent topical glucocorticoids (striae distensae)
• lichen planus (Wickham's striae)
• pregnancy (striae gravidarum)

Clinical manifestations

• linear marks on the skin
• in patients with Cushing's disease, the striae are stretch marks, wider & more likely to be purple than in purely obese patients with striae distensae
