striae distensae

Etiology

• obesity
• pregnancy
• potent topical glucocorticoids

Clinical manifestations

• linear atrophic marks on the skin of obese patients
• distribution:
  • abdomen
  • breasts
  • buttocks
  • thighs
  • groin
• orientation of striae is perpendicular to the greatest force of tension
• initially lesions may be raised & pink, but over time become white & atrophic

Differential diagnosis

• inverse psoriasis
