Function
- role as inhibitor of T-cells proliferation induced by CD3
- inhibits expression of IL2RA on activated T-cells & secretion of IL2
- inhibits tyrosine kinases required for IL2 production & cellular proliferation
- inhibits phospholipase C-gamma-1/PLCG1 phosphorylation & subsequent CD3-induced changes in intracellular free Ca+2
- prevents nuclear translocation of NFAT to nucleus
- role in inhibition of T-cell proliferation via IL10 secretion by cutaneous dendritic cells
Structure
- N-Glycosylated
- contains 7 Ig-like C2-type domains (immunoglobulin-like)
Compartment
membrane
Expression
- expressed in lung, thymus, small intestine
- expressed in cutaneous dendritic cells, activated T-cells, monocytes, granulocytes, epithelial cells with dendritic morphology
Pathology
- expressed in some leukemic cells, CD4(+) CD56(+) blastic tumor cells from patients with Langerhans cell histiocytosis
- marker of CD4(+) CD56(+) leukemic tumor cells (putative)
