Structure

• exists in two forms: a single chain 75 kD form (V75) & a clipped form composed of two chains (65 kD & 10 kD) (V65+V10) which are held together by a disulfide bond
• sulfated on 2 Tyr, N- & O-glycosylated (putative)
• SMB domain may have disulfide bond heterogeneity
• SMB domain mediates interaction with SERPINE1/PAI1
• heparin-binding domain mediates interaction with insulin
• contains 4 hemopexin-like domains
• contains 1 SMB (somatomedin-B) domain
