• binds heme & transports it to the liver for breakdown & iron recovery, after which the free hemopexin returns to the circulation
• interacts with HEV ORF3 protein. interacts with FLVCR1

  • O-glycosylated with core 1 glycan or possibly core 8 glycan
• belongs to the hemopexin family
• contains 5 hemopexin-like domains
