Function
- regulatory subunit of Kv4 voltage-gated K+ channels
- modulates channels density, inactivation kinetics & rate of recovery
- modulates Kv4.2 & Kv4.3 currents
- component of heteromultimeric K+ channels containing KCND1, KCND2, KCND3, KCNIP1, KCNIP2, KCNIP3, KCNIP4, DPP6 & DPP10
- interacts with Kv4.2, Kv4.3, PSEN2, PSEN1
- isoform 4 retains KCND3 in the endoplasmic reticulum & negatively regulates its expression at the cell membrane
Structure
- the KIS (K-channel inactivation suppressor) domain is required for converting A-type Kv4 current to a slowly inactivating delayed rectifier K+ current
- belongs to the recoverin family,
- contains 4 EF-hand domains
Compartment
Alternative splicing
named isoforms=4
Expression
predominantly expressed in brain
