Function
- role in T-cell adhesion & p53-dependent induction of apoptosis
- does not bind RNA
- interacts with FMR1, FXR1 & FXR2
- component of WAVE1 complex
- CYFIP2 binds to activated RAC1 which causes WAVE1 complex to dissociate, releasing activated WASF1
Structure
belongs to the CYFIP family
Compartment
- cytoplasm, perinuclear region
- synaptosome
- hghly expressed in the perinuclear region
- enriched in synaptosomes
- treatment with leptomycin-B triggers translocation to nucleus
Alternative splicing
named isoforms=2
RNA editing
- modified positions=320, partially edited
- editing appears to be brain-specific
Pathology
- up-regulated significantly in CD4+ T lymphocytes from patients with multiple sclerosis (at protein level)
