• downstream effector involved in the signal transduction from tyrosine kinase receptors & small GTPases to the actin cytoskeleton
• component of the WAVE1 complex
  • CYFIP2 binds to activated RAC1 which causes the complex to dissociate, releasing activated WASF1
• binds actin & the Arp2/3 complex
• interacts with BAIAP2

• binds the Arp2/3 complex through the C-terminal region & actin through verprolin homology (VPH) domain
• belongs to the SCAR/WAVE family
• contains 1 WH2 domain

• highly expressed in brain
