- initiation of therapy to the point of clinical effect
In anesthesiology:
- the period from start of anesthesia to the establishment of a depth of anesthesia sufficient for surgery
- drug therapy given as the primary treatment for patients who present with advanced cancer for which no alternative treatment exists In obstetrics:
- induction of labor
