Function
- sister-chromatid separation inhibitor
- DNA repair
- chromosome stability
- negatively regulates transcriptional activity & related apoptosis activity of TP53
- interacts with Ku, RPS10, DNAJA1, ESPL1, TP53
- phosphorylated at Ser-165 by CDC2 during mitosis
- phosphorylated in vitro by ds-DNA kinase
- ubiquitinated by the anaphase promoting complex at the onset of anaphase
Compartment
Expression
- expressed at low level in most tissues
- highly expressed in testes
- low level during G1 phase & S phase
- peaks in M phase; during anaphase, it is degraded
Pathology
- transforming activity when overexpressed
- overexpressed in many patients with pituitary adenomas, primary epithelial neoplasias, & esophageal cancer
