Jump to search
Function
- associates with IL12RB1 to form the IL-23 receptor
- binds IL23 & mediates T-cells, NK cells & possibly certain macrophage/myeloid cells stimulation probably via activation of the Jak-Stat signaling
- IL23 & its receptor IL23R function in innate & adaptive immunity & participate in acute response to infection in peripheral tissues
- interacts with JAK2 & in presence of IL23 with STAT3
- phosphorylated in response to IL23
Structure
- heterodimer with IL12RB1
- contains 2 fibronectin F3 modules
Compartment
Alternative splicing
named isoforms=7
Expression
- expressed by monocytes, Th1, Th0, NK & dendritic cells
- isoform 1 is specifically expressed in NK cells
Pathology
- role in autoimmune inflammatory diseases & tumorigenesis
- genetic variation in IL23R is associated with susceptibility to Crohns disease
