Toxic to the ear.
Etiology
Ototoxic pharmaceutical agents include:
- amikacin (Amikin)
- aminoglycoside antibiotic
- azithromycin (Zithromax)
- bumetanide (Bumex)
- capreomycin (Capastat)
- carboplatin (CDBCA, Paraplatin)
- cisplatin (Platinol)
- erythromycin (Eryc, E-mycin, Ilotycin, AK-Mycin, A/T/S, T-stat)
- ethacrynic acid (Edecrin)
- furosemide (Lasix)
- gentamicin (Garamycin, Genoptic)
- hydroxychloroquine (Plaquenil)
- kanamycin (Kantrex)
- mechlorethamine (Mustargen)
- neomycin (Mycifradin)
- netilmicin (Netromycin)
- paromomycin (aminosidine, Humatin)
- streptomycin
- tetracycline (Achromycin, Sumycin)
- tobramycin (Nebcin, Tobrex)
- vancomycin (Vancocin)
- vinblastine or vincaleukoblastine (Velban, Velsar, Alkaban-AQ)
- vincristine, 22-oxovincaleukoblastine or leurocristine (Oncovin, Vincasar PFS)
- vinorelbine (Navelbine)
