Epidemiology
- Southeast Asia, including China
Clinical manifestations
- fever
- diarrhea
- abdominal pain, mild abdominal distension
- rose spots, discrete, blanching, 1-4 mm salmon-colored macules may be noted
Laboratory
- cultures
- serum transaminases mild-moderately elevated
- complete blood count
- leukocytosis
- platelets normal
- Salmonella enterica DNA
- serology not recommended for diagnosis of acute disease[1]
